A Walk Across The Dunes
Wed, 18 June 2025 @ 19:30 - 21:30

An evening event taking a loop around Findhorn dunes to see the varied flora, fauna and archaeological sites and the ongoing work of trusts members in maintaining this important environment.
We shall walk in an extended loop around the dunes, passing through the mixed landscape of Findhorn’s dunes. This includes open heathland, dunes and shoreline, and wooded areas managed by the Findhorn Dunes Trust. Walkers will be shown the varied flora and fauna across the dunes as well as archaeological sites, spanning the Bronze Age to WW2.
Walkers will be shown the ongoing work of the dunes trust members in maintaining this important environment. This includes control of invasive lodge pole pines and gorse which ensures that open areas remain and rare species such as lichens can thrive. If the tide permits the walk may go along the shore for a short distance to see the sand martins nesting.
Walkers are advised to where clothing which covers the arms and legs, (gorse and ticks). The nearest loos are within the village and public carpark. Dogs on leads are welcome.
