Thu, 20 June 2024 @ 16:00 - 18:00
Join us on this coastal trail from Hopeman to Burghead and discover the abundance and variety of our local coastal habitats, from plants to seaweeds, foods and medicine.
Come on this coastal trail from Hopeman to Burghead and discover the abundance and variety of our local coastal habitats, from plants to seaweeds, foods and medicine. We will stop to discuss best foraging practices, meet and perhaps taste some of the species we come across, and talking about their different uses, both in the kitchen as well as the medicine cabinet.
The trail will take us along the shoreline and over irregular terrain, exploring the flora as we walk from Hopeman Harbour towards Burghead. The walk will include very short but irregular inclines, as well as some clambering over rocks at the shore to explore the great variety of seaweeds that grow on our doorstep.
Daniel, a forager and wild food enthusiast based in Moray, can’t help but spread his excitement and passion about nature and wild foods, and the different ways we can (re)connect with our environments, ethically and sustainably. He believes that foraging is a great way to connect with our local habitats as well as improve our physical and mental wellbeing. He delivers foraging walks and workshops both independently and for local charities and organisations.
